The nine stone ring or the navaratna ring in my view is extremely unscientific in that the gems are exceptionally small and very seldom touch the skin. They are at best a token of respect to the seemingly lost science of genuine navaratnas that actually make a difference. The rings can cost from $40 to $190 depending on the stones, but generally the gems are always well under a quarter of a carat each. The gems are so tiny that even if they had very good skin contact, the electromagnetic radiations from the gems simply could not enhance a transfer of benign energy large enough to significantly affect your karmic magnetism. These rings have become popular in India amongst a few because they are eminently inexpensive and the salespeople will sell the idea that good fortune comes from wearing them. I have never witnessed this from the many I have met who have worn them. If a magnet is to have an effect it works best touching the metal object.
